FLOODPLAIN LETTER OF MAP REVISION FOR PROPOSED POLICE DEPARTMENT SITE
DesignTek prepared a detailed flood study and ultimately applied for and obtained a Letter of Map Revision on behalf of the Village of Mokena. The LOMR was obtained in an effort to revise the existing floodplain limits on a parcel owned by the Village of Mokena, that will be the future home of the Mokena Police Department. DesignTek prepared a detailed hydrologic and hydraulic flood study for a section of Marley Creek located north of 191st Street and east of 104th Avenue in Mokena. This study was prepared in an effort to remove a portion of the floodplain from a parcel of land owned by the Village of Mokena. The LOMR was issued by FEMA, and the Village has plans to build a new building for the Village’s Police Department at the site. The revised floodplain limits will allow the structure to now be completed with a basement, and the structure should not be required to carry flood insurance.
